Linus Carl Pauling ( 28 February 1901 - 09 August 1990 )


 Was an American scientist. Pauling was among the first scientist to work in the field of quantum chemistry, molecular biology and orthomolecular medicine. He received two Nobel  Prizes.

 Pauling was graduated with a Degree in Chemical Engineering. He did his Ph.D in Physical Chemistry and mathematical physics in 1925 from California Institute of Technology. In 1932 Pauling published a paper on theory of hybridisation and analsed tetravalancy of Carbon. In 1954 he was awarded Nobel Prize in Chemistry . After the world War II, Pauling began to express his concern with the effects of nuclear fall out. In 1962 he was awarded another Nobel Prize for peace.

After 1950 he shifted to biochemistry. In 1950 he proposed the first satisfactory model of a protein molecule.
