He was born is Oslo. He was Norwegian mathematician and chemist.
Guldberg worked at the University of Oslo along with his brother-in-law Peter Waage. Both of them jointly deduced the law of mass action in 1864. The law could not attract attention of scientific community till 1870, mainly because it was published in Norwegian. Henricus van't Hoff derived similar equation and also proved experimentally the validity of the law.
