1) Common name system :
I) Find the common name of acid.
II) Replace 'ic acid' term with 'ate' suffix.
2) IUPAC system :
I) Find the IUPAC name of carboxylic acid (alkanoic acid).
II) Replace 'ic acid' term with 'ate' suffix hence it became alkyl alkanoate.
III) In esters alkyl groups is that which is attached to oxygen atom. Further in IUPAC system find IUPAC name of alkyl group.
