Vladimir Vasilyevich Markovnikov ( 1838 - 1904 )

A Russian chemist, best known for Markownikoff's rule, described addition reactions of hydrogen halides to alkenes ( 1869 ). His contribution to organic chemistry was the finding of the carbon rings with more than six carbon atoms. He found rings with seven carbon atoms ( 1889 ). He also showed that butyric acid and isobutyric acids are isomers having same molecular formula but different structures.
