Born on December 2, 1921, she received her Ph.D. from Michigan University at the age of 22 years. The work of her interest was electron diffraction and the structure of molecules. She developed method for determining molecular structure by x-ray diffraction. She also worked on crystallography of materials in the fields of Organic chemistry and Biochemistry.
