GEORGE SIMON OHM ( March 16, 1797 - July6, 1854 )

George Simon Ohm was a German Physicist. He started his research with electrochemical cell. He used equipment of his own creation and determined that there is a direct proportionality between the potential difference across a conductor and the resultant current. He was able to define the relationship among voltage, current and resistance, which represents the true beginning of electric circuit analysis.

He published his law 'Ohm's Law' in 1827. Initially his work was received with little enthusiasm, but later Royal Society recognized it and awarded 'Copley Medal' in 1841. In 1881, at the meeting of The International Congress of Electrical Engineers in Paris, it was decided that the resistance be expressed on Ohm.
